The Faculty of Art and Design was newly established basing on combing the two disciplines of Art Designing and Industry Designing in 1999, which has 3 departments, namely, Industrial Design, Art Design and Photography. It has cultivated over 400 graduates working in the fields of art and design, advertising, product styling and internet communications.

Vigorously supported by the university, the Faculty of Art and Design now has studios costing over 4 million Yuan. They consist of Modeling Studio of Industrial Design, Ceramic Art Studio, Rapid Prototyping Moulding Experiment Studio, Art Exhibition Hall, and Studios for Packaging Design, Environment Art, Animation, and Photography Experiment.

The Faculty of Art and Design adopts the educational philosophy "Arts developing together with technology". Practical application is therefore encouraged and combined with the theoretical education for students. The faculty is engaged in cultivating students' ability in "project design" and "product design" with the aim of practical application. The faculty has the new-type practice bases in campus and also off-campus ones for color painting, art survey, manufacturing experiences. In recent years, students' designing works have won 2 national patents of utility model, and over 20 prizes and honors of art exhibition and performance from Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial Education Department.

The Faculty of Art and Design offers 1 master's programs and 5 programs for bachelor's degree. In this faculty there are 4 professors, and 7 associate professors, 89 postgraduates and 824 undergraduates.
